Size advice
Sizing & model advice
Billy Footwear offers several models, each with its own unique fit. It might take some trial and error to find the perfect fit.
The link below will take you to a size chart. For this, it is necessary to measure the feet with any splints on.
This concerns the following sizes:
A : Length
C : Width
D: Circumference of the forefoot behind the toes (usually on the C line)
E : Circumference high on the instep

If you're having trouble with your sizing, you can always email the measurements above to info@zipperenzo.nl . We'll try to respond within 3-5 business days.
When we provide sizing advice, it doesn't guarantee the shoes will actually fit. Therefore, if you need to return your purchased shoes, please refer to our returns policy.
Email regarding sizing advice
Hi!
During regular weeks, it can take up to 5 business days for a response. During school holidays, we respond to emails only to a limited extent (our own children are at home). Emails will be processed after the school holidays.
We are happy to help you find the right size and model!
To measure the correct sizes you need the following:
- A4
- Flexible measuring tape
- Pencil/pen
What do we need to help you with this? It depends on how you want to wear the shoes. Are you 1, 2, or 3?
- Do you want to wear the Billy's over splints ?
Then measure the dimensions of the braces on both the left and right sides. Measure A and C by standing with the brace on an A4 sheet of paper, with your heels against a wall. (This way, any curvature of the brace at the back is also included in the measurement, because it also has to fit in the shoe). Then, trace/draw the brace and measure the longest length (A) and the widest width (C, which usually runs behind the toes and between the balls of the foot).
The D and E together form the circumference of the left and right feet. Measure these with the braces on your feet, so your feet are in and they are tightly laced or Velcroed, as you normally wear them. Then, using a flexible tape measure, measure the D behind your toes around the C line, including the brace. Also measure the E around the toes. but high on the instep. Please note the measurements. with the drawing/print you made of the splints as A, C, D and E , and email us these measurements. - Do you want to wear the Billy's without splints ?
Then, measure the circumference of both feet with socks on a piece of A4 paper. A is the longest length and C is the widest width. C is usually behind the toes, between the balls of the foot. D and E are measured by using a flexible tape measure around the foot, on the C line low behind the toes, and D by measuring high on the instep with the flexible tape measure. - Do you want to wear the Billy's with insoles ?
Then measure the length of your insole and trace it on a piece of A4 paper. A is the longest length and C is the widest width. Measure D and E around your foot with a flexible tape measure, keeping your foot on the insole so that it is also included in the measurement.
* If you wear an insole, please indicate whether it covers the entire length of your foot or whether it is a different model.
If you plan to wear the Billy's with a single brace or a combination of a brace and an insole, measure the sizes indicated in the corresponding section 1, 2, or 3, depending on your situation. You may need an unequal pair.
It is important that the measurements are taken very accurately, 2 mm too much or too little can already make a difference in size and ultimately result in an incorrect size.
In addition to the dimensions, we would also like to receive the following additional information to get the most complete picture possible:
- Photos of the splint(s), please, the front and side view, or photos of your arch support(s)
- Background information about the user: is the user an independent walker? An active player/crawler? Is there a lot of bumping/kicking? Or does the user primarily sit/roll in a wheelchair or mobility scooter? Are they using walking aids (e.g., forward or backward walkers, frame runners, standing aids) and are they dragging themselves along the ground? Is there any toe walking?
It's worth noting that Billy shoes offer unique and incredibly convenient access to the shoe for feet and/or splints through the zipper and the folding mechanism. This provides great convenience and eliminates the hassle of pushing and pulling or excessive upsizing, but Billy shoes are not (semi-)orthopedic shoes. They are simply regular, ready-made shoes. The extent to which and especially how they are used (in addition to the correct size, style, and silhouette) determines their lifespan. Billy shoes can wear out, particularly when using splints, but also from dragging, bumping, toe walking, and/or peak pressure. This isn't necessary, but it can happen. Especially for active runners or users who may use assistive devices, it's a matter of trial and error to determine which model is most comfortable and durable.
Finally, we put a lot of time and love into our work, so that everyone who simply wants fashionable shoes can find something convenient. Thanks to our experience, we often succeed very well, but sometimes we can't provide appropriate advice remotely. We always report this honestly, and we hope for your understanding.
When we provide sizing advice, it doesn't guarantee the shoes will actually fit. Therefore, if you need to return your purchased shoes, please refer to our returns policy.

USER BEHAVIOR AND BILLY'S:
In order to properly determine which model would, would not, or would fit the wearer better than another (in terms of foot/leg anatomy and splint type), we need some background information about the wearer's behavior and usage habits.
We would like to know which of the following applies:
- Is the user an independent runner?
If so, are you a toe walker? A heel walker? Do you slide your heels or do you prefer the balls of your feet on the ground? - Is the user more sedentary, for example in a wheelchair or mobility scooter?
If so, do you frequently pound your feet on the footboard? And if so, do you apply force to the footboard with your heels or with the toes of your shoes in a pointed position? - Are aids used? If so, which aids? Walking aid, walker, walker, tripod chair, frame runner, standing table?
- Does the child move around or play a lot on the floor with splints and shoes on?
- Is there a lot of active outdoor play, such as soccer, playground equipment, and crawling/climbing?
- Could we take a photo of the braces on the feet from the front and from the sides, left and right? So we can see if there are heels, Velcro, laces, hinges, etc.?
We'd love to hear from you, because a model that best suits your needs can increase the durability of your shoes.
Billys are essentially standard, ready-made shoes , which are a fantastic solution, but they can certainly break due to use, playing, ground play, sliding, climbing, the wearer's gait, etc., and of course, splints, which—sooner or later—will destroy any shoe. And the most convenient thing about Billys: the zipper that opens all the way to the front can be damaged with certain use.
